This month in St. Louis, April showers did not slow down the openings of some much-anticipated spots around town.
In Lindenwood Park, the long-awaited Menya Rui opened its brick-and-mortar spot, so now those wanting a taste of Steven Pursley’s ramen never have to wait for his next pop-up. The Wine Cafe opened in St. Charles, giving folks a new dining and drinking option along Main Street for snacks and light meals alike. And St. Louis also got additional locations of several beloved restaurants: Gioia’s Deli opened a carryout-only location in Maryland Heights; Goshen Coffee Roasters opened a new café in Soulard; and Hi-Pointe Drive-In opened its first outpost across the river.
Sadly, St. Louis said goodbye to some longtime favorites this month. Cafe Natasha shut its doors on April 30, allowing for the retirement of matriarch Hamishe Bahrami after more than 40 years of feeding the community. Guerrilla Street Food also closed its doors in Webster Groves at the end of the month – the restaurant is up for sale, though, so there is still a glimmer of hope for those who loved the fast-casual Filipino joint.
