After 95 years that brought it from North Grand Boulevard to the One Metropolitan Square building downtown to Westport Plaza in Maryland Heights, Kemoll’s has permanently closed.
The restaurant, known in its final years at 323 Westport Plaza as Kemoll’s Chop House, officially announced the closure Tuesday on its website.
St. Louis magazine first reported the news Sunday.
“Thank you for a wonderful 95 years!” the website now reads. A voicemail recording at the restaurant’s phone number also announces the closure.
Joe and Dora Kemoll opened the original location in 1927. In 1990, the fine-dining institution moved downtown to One Met Square. Eventually, it would move to the building’s 40th floor.
